For ENQUIRER-ing minds

The house is getting painted, the body, the trim and the accent colors have been chosen and I have moved on! but really this time, it's true I tell you it is.

After all of that self indulgent, repugnant behavior about the color choices, when I finally realized it wasn't about the paint, actually had nothing to do with picking colors I could finally start to deal with the real issues. Everybody seemed to know this except me, right?

But isn't it true, you think your shit is about one thing, usually the obvious superficial problem or person that is currently in your face BUT upon hitting the wall repeatedly and deciding to excavate this phenomena (if you have any bandwidth for pain & reflection) you can get underneath to the juicy smelly stuff (your crap) and finally begin to get some real answers. I know it isn't fun or easy and in fact can be downright excruciating and expensive but oh, the freedom and joy on the other side. Priceless.

For ENQUIRER-ing minds, Top 3 issues around choosing exterior paint colors:

1. Commitment issues
SOLUTION = deal with break-up with X 1.0
2. Fear of getting it "wrong"
SOLUTION = revisit father issues
3. People pleasing
SOLUTION = decide what makes me happy

  1. WOW ... such resolution, insight and clarity!! Where to go from here (blog-wise, I mean)?? Never fear!! With old houses (complex selves??), there's always the next issue lurking just beneath the surface .... or behind the next wall ... even within the foundation. No end in sight!! One teeny-tiny inconsequential (for a change) problem, having to do with color (omg!!): I'm having a really hard time reading the lighter blue of your labels on my laptop. Now I realize it's important to maintain some degree of mystery and inscrutability here (and in life), but I'd love to read your labels, as they're the ISSUES ... and issues are important (really!!). And where's the bold/awesome reddish shade going, btw?? And where's my free gift??

  2. oh, I do, I DO have the bandwidth for pain & reflection, and want to know how did this all come about? Revelations abound near red paint? Does Adler's have a therapist on aisle 5?
    And, I'm glad that you sound better, but selfishly I sort of hope that that you aren't suddenly as serene as the Dalai Lama because I really really like reading this blog for its humor--I recognize myself in the, uh, renovations.
